Yacht Rental

We see this term mostly when a daily yacht rental (or charter) is desired. It might be crewed or just to take out a boat for a few hours or a few days. It’s a generic term though which many use interchangeably with “yacht charter.”  It’s important to understand the distinction so when you call a charter or rental company.  They will need to understand whether you’re looking for something to do for the day while you’re vacationing independently or you’re looking for a turnkey vacation.

Bareboat Yacht Charter/Rental

This is the type of charter for those wanting a more involved approach. Most rental or charter companies that offer this option will ask for some extensive information about your sailing experience. They will ask about your navigational and technical skills as well as mooring and anchoring experience.  They’ll also want to know if you’ve been to any sailing schools/programs as well as the experience of anyone else helping you. Additionally it’ll be important to know if you have or have had your own boat and what your experience has been. If you’re not 100% comfortable on your own you can hire an independent captain. You can have them with you for a day or they can be hired for the duration of your charter.
