Crew Profile

Capt. Paul Johnson

Paul is from Greater Manchester, UK and has been sailing since the age of four. He was brought up dingy sailing and successfully campaigned many highly competitive seasons in dinghy classes. Paul has sailed the Caribbean, Pacific, East coast of the USA and the UK. With such a love for the sea it was only natural that Paul wanted to add the qualifications to match his experience and establish a career as a captain.

For two years Paul studied watersports activity leadership at Falmouth Marine School. He has a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore 200 ton and has undertaken an approved engineers course in the UK. He is also a PADI Divermaster and has dived worldwide.

Paul has been managing and running yachts for 10 years. One of the highlights was winning Best in Show at the British Virgin Islands charter yacht show in 2011.

Chef/1st Mate Liezel Wehmeyer

Liezl grew up in a beautiful small beach town on the South East coast of South Africa, Jeffrey’s Bay, and has absolutely loved and respected the ocean since a very young age.
She started working in the hospitality industry directly after studying a Tourism and Hospitality Course and graduating High School. She lived and worked on a 5 star Golf Country Club in Boca Raton in sunny Florida. After returning to the vineyards of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, she became a Guest House manager for a several years
The travel bug bit her in her previous travels abroad and she took an opportunity in 2012 to crew on a 39ft sailing Catamaran which were setting sail from Cape Town, South Africa to Tahiti. This was a wonderful experience in so many ways and she learned so much on this trip, seeing that was her first time on a boat!
She started working on crewed catamarans in 2012 and has done chartering in mostly BVI, but also St Vincent and the Grenadines and Guadeloupe.
While being the Chef / First Mate on catamarans she found her true career passion in cooking and recently took a year off from working and dedicated herself to a fulltime, one year culinary course, earning her Diploma in Culinary Arts in South Africa
Liezl is spontaneous and just loves life, she will contribute to a fun and exciting atmosphere with her quick laughter and friendly nature
