Crew Profile

CAPTAIN GARY was born and raised in Northern California on the Russian river, eventually finding his love of the sea. He migrated to the Outer Banks NC in 2003 and found Kite boarding. It was a rapid progression turning into an intense passion and lifestyle, instructing, traveling, and competing all over the world. In 2004 sailing came into play and never left.

He eventually bought a 30' Mono hull and started cruising. The Bahamas, Caribbean, and eastern seaboard quickly became the standard route. Yet again passion became a profession. He holds a 100ton USCG master license, STCW-95, PADI advanced open water, and is an ASA instructor for 101, 103, 104, 105, and 114 courses. He is still an avid kite surfer, and instructor, enjoys surfing, spearfishing, fishing, diving and just about anything to do with the sea.

For the past 5 years he has been instructing sailing, captaining term charters, running large private yachts, running large capacity day cats and delivering yachts all over. It has earned him over 30k sea miles.

Gary found his culinary passion at a very young age. His first job in High School was at a barbecue restaurant. The hospitality industry has never been out of his life for very long. He has been a server, cook, bar tender, and manager at establishments from NC to St John and many points in between. He loves to catch, prepare, and share the culinary gifts from the sea as much as possible, especially sushi.

Captain Gary's passion for sailing, love of the sea, and extensive experience make him a perfect fit for your charter experience.
