Crew Profile

Captain Ken Hodgins:

As Captain of the Mrs. Happy, Ken holds a 500 Ton USCG license. He loves being on the water as well as in the water. He has been a PADI certified scuba diver since 1994 and is an avid free diver and surfer. He grew up on his family's sailboat and sailed his own boat to the Virgin Islands after graduating from the College of Charleston and never looked back. The Virgin Islands have been his home base year round since 2006. The islands of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are where he has spent most of his cruising career and he knows these waters like his own backyard.

First Mate Danny Del Valle:

Danny hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico and is fluent in English and Spanish. While the surrounding Caribbean waters are his home turf, he also has experience throughout Florida and the Bahamas on a wide range of fishing and pleasure boats. He has worked as a fisherman both commercial and sport and when it comes to fishing, Danny knows everything from setting the line to serving it as the main course. Danny is also a USCG licensed captain and a PADI diver.

Chef Vanessa:

Vanessa has been cooking since the age of 16. She started her career working in Michelin style restaurants in Canada, France, Asia, and Australia. Since then, she has had the privilege to work at Heli ski lodges, on yachts, and as a private chef on elite private islands across the world. As a native of Vancouver, Vanessa's cuisine is inspired by the active lifestyle of the West Coast. Her culinary repertoire is full of fresh, clean foods, very little waste, and internationally inspired accents. When Vanessa isn't creating in the kitchen, she is backcountry snowboarding, surfing, or on some adventure around the world. Vanessa is always up for a challenge to create new food experiences.
