Crew Profile

Captain Alan Collinge:

Alan was introduced to yachting at an early age in the South of Spain, mentored by his grandfather he quickly developed a passion for the ocean and life at sea. After finishing school in Johannesburg, he moved to the town of Zinkwazi on the South African North Coast. Over the next 3 years spent his time Lifeguarding the local beaches and teaching shark Scuba Diving on the famous Aliwal Shoal, (a reef 5 miles out to sea). In 2013 Alan moved to Cyprus where he would work as a Scuba Diving Instructor/Crew on a diving boat for the next 2 years. Alan decided to take his yachting passion to the next level in 2015 where he Captained a 58ft Sailing Catamaran in the British Virgin Islands and has now taken command of Dolphin Splash.

Chef/1st Mate Amy Carmichael:

Having grown up in St Francis Bay, situated on the south east coast of South Africa, a thatched village famous for surfing, she became an avid surfer and developed a deep love for the ocean.

After helping some friends sail their yacht down from St Francis Bay to Cape town, the sailing bug had bitten her and she soon found herself on her first Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean.

The crossing brought her to the British Virgin Islands where she found a job as a stewardess/deckhand on a 58 catamaran for the next two years.

It is here she met Alan and after some time traveling the world together they decided it was time to run their own catamaran as captain and chef.

With her love of the ocean and a passion for cooking, Amy developed her cooking skills through a top culinary course to refine her skills.

Amys nick name is our cuisine queen.
