When first entering the yacht from the cockpit, take 5 steps down to the raised navigation station. Two more steps down brings you to the main living area which has fresh new Sunbrella fabric upholstery. Columbo does not only rely on the island Breeze for comfort she is fully air conditioned throughout, with individual controls in each cabin.
The owners stateroom aft is very spacious and comfortable. Features include a king-sized island berth, a lounging settee, desk, TV, and private companionway ladder leading to the aft deck. A double berth guest stateroom is forward to starboard, and the third cabin is a twin with upper and lower berths located forward port. Both have ensuite head with electric toilet and separate shower stall.
The cockpit is split into separate steering and guest / crew areas. Both cockpits have a clear central walk-way between the dual wheels, giving excellent access from the companionway to the helm positions or to the aft deck. Stern bathing/boarding platform finished with teak slats and hot and cold shower.
COLUMBO BREEZE is based year round in St. Maarten and is available for charter throughout the Caribbean.
Born in England, he spent his early years in New York. At the tender age of 10 he was sent to live on the island of Barbados with his grandmother and receive schooling there. His love of the sea and the Caribbean was born during these years. Steve holds a USCG 500 ton captains license and also has a great depth of expertise with engines and electrical systems, with ASE-certification on Cummins and GM diesel engines. His knowledge has also led to overseeing the refit of several yachts, always adding new touches that elevate to a higher level of accommodation.
Steve has discriminating taste in yacht and has captained a 76 Hinckley, 76 Hylas, and 140 Jongert. He has sailed all over the Caribbean and is highly knowledgeable particularly of the leeward and windward islands. He's a delightful fellow who can entertain you with many adventure sea stories. He's also multi-lingual and speaks 4 languages fluently.
First Mate and Chef, Julie King has been in the industry for 20 years and working alongside Steve for the past 12 years. She is from the US and received culinary training at the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale. She also holds a USCG 100 ton captains license, so is fully qualified to handle skipper duties as needed. At one period in time, the Kings ran private trips 33 weeks of the year, with consistent praise from their guests and service up to charter standards.
Julies cooking was recently recognized at the Grenada Charter Yacht Show as WINNER - second place Culinary Excellence Award.
