Captain Francesco grew up in Tuscany in a sailing family who cruised the Med since the early 1960s. While working in photo news in the New York City, organizing fashion shows in Tokyo, he always kept his dream alive of returning to his original passion: the sea. After working for a charter company in Italy and crewing extensively (from classic Schooners to Maxi racers, production yachts and a lot more in between), in 2006 he took the leap with his own yacht to cruise remote areas of the world.
Starting from New Zealand, he and his (now) wife sailed for over seven years, cruising Melanesia, Micronesia, Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean. Rounding the Cape of Good Hope brought them to the Amazonian forests of South America and eventually, the Caribbean. After two seasons of cruising and exploring thoroughly the whole archipelago from the BVIs to Trinidad and the Dutch Antilles and after over 60,000 miles sailed during these seven years, in 2014 they started their professional yachting career on a 65 catamaran.
The following 3 years were spent chartering in the Caribbean, and in 2017 Francesco has joined the ADEA family with a Yachtmaster Ocean qualification aboard one of the best equipped and luxurious Sunreef catamarans.
MICHELA LONGHI CHEF/STEWARDESS
Chef/Stewardess Michela is originally from Lake Como, and her passion for travel is reflected in her early career choice as a travel agent. Until she met her husband Francesco she had never imagined herself picking up sailing. She joined his sailing life on a whim in New Zealand in 2006 and never looked back. Running their boat as a cost share enabled her to utilize and refine all her people management skills acquired in her land based jobs (which included six years in a high-profile cocktail bar on Lake Como, Italy), all the while allowing her to fulfil her dream to travel extensively and off the beaten path.
After cruising for almost eight years from New Zealand to the Caribbean along with her husband Francesco they started working professionally on yachts in 2014. Michela holds the Yachtmaster Ocean qualification and the Food Handling Certificate and is a very creative chef and experienced bartender who likes new challenges and treats satisfaction of culinary preferences of every guest as her personal responsibility. She loves to share her knowledge of the sea while delighting her guests with the highest standard of service. Michela takes pride in keeping the boat always in an optimal shape, but she is also a capable sailor and fully qualified to take over from the Captain if needed.
FEDERICO PAVONI DECKHAND
Federico grew up in the border region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy and spent his youth between the Alps and the Adriatic sea. He soon developed a passion for travel and adventure through his love for swimming, cycling, hiking and skiing. After his studies as a quantity surveyor, he lived in Australia working for a major events management company and then in Asia as an English language teacher.
His passion for the sea came later, during a trip to South Africa when he fell in love with the majesty of the ocean and began sailing. The lengthy training was followed by the intense experience of long haul catamaran deliveries as a First Mate throughout the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles, Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor and Australia.
Two years ago, Federico started his career as a Deckhand on charter and privately owned boats, first in the Whitsundays Islands, Australia then moving to the Mediterranean Sea covering Corsica, Sardinia, Tyrrhenian Island and Greece.
His personal experience and the Yachtmaster Offshore qualification have made him an efficient Deckhand and a valuable member of ADEAs crew, offering excellent maintaining skills and the highest standard of service for both the yacht and the guests.
